Museum Collections Research, Analysis, and Rationalisation:
I can provide research, analysis and rationalisation reviews of individual objects or entire collections, using both on and off-site archives and documents. Having worked with collections myself, I understand the emotional conflict that the rationalisation process can cause to staff and volunteers. I would aim to work alongside or in consultation with on-site staff, explaining the process and the rationale for rationalisation decisions as required.
Collections Management, Documentation and Digitisation:
I have practical experience in all aspects of collections management, including the handling, labelling and storage of objects, inventory and documentation, database input and auditing, a thorough understanding of collections care, and experience of preventative conservation. I am happy to undertake digitisation projects, tackle documentations back-logs and offer general advice about storage and preventative conservation. I am proficient in a number of Museum databases, including MODES, Axiell and the National Trust CMS, and am quick to learn new systems as required.
